TaylorMade has produced a club that is going to hand you more yards. The new RocketBallz line from TaylorMade may have an unusual name but you will love the extra distance it give you!

I had the opportunity to try out the new 3 wood today and WOW what a great feel. TaylorMade has really found a breakthrough, again.

RocketBallz Fairway Woods promotes up to 17 extra yards.  I was skeptical at first but I have to say the product delivers.  I hit one today 269 yards! That is easily 20 yards longer then I hit it now. I know what will be going in my bag this year!

This new exciting line from TaylorMade is just as exciting as last years’ release of the R11 driver. In fact they have stuck with the R11 Driver as their “player’s” driver.
TaylorMade has changed a few things on the driver and re-named it the R11S Driver. The white head is still there,  but now there are 80 different ways to set up your new R11S driver.

Too many choices?   Well the truth is you don’t need every single one of those 80 settings but having the ability will help us find the right settings for you and get you that desired club you like to look at!

The head boasts a contemporary, slightly more triangular appearance than traditionally shaped drivers that provides higher MOI and a deeper, farther-forward CG position. The R11 S driver now has 5 different settings thanks to the breakthrough design the of Adjustable Sole Plate technology, they are neutral, slightly open, open, slightly closed and closed.

Hope everyone is surviving the non-winter?? The golf course is doing just fine with this mild weather. The course was very healthy going into December and continues to stay that way. Warmer than usual temperatures has kept ice off the course which is also a good thing.

We’ve had some questions about covers not being on some greens this year, (i.e. 1, 2 & 18). In our fall program of deep coring and topdressing the greens with sand; we used double the amount of sand to literally bury the lower part of the plant. You can see the tip of the grass but the lower crown is well protected in sand. It is this lower crown where spring growth starts. Covers are on in weaker areas, i.e. 7 & 9 tees, 17 green.

The weather is helping us by not being winter. Nearing the end of January, we are quickly getting over the winter hump. The clock is ticking to an April 16^th opening, only 14 weeks away. With conditions we have now, old man winter is losing his opportunity to damage the course.

There is bad news!! Our hope in opening the first ever skating rink for the members is not going so well. Warm temperatures have our skating rink looking more like the old tennis courts! Let’s hope for a little winter so we can enjoy this new member activity.

Thursday November 10^th will be the 1^st Annual (possibly last) Superintendents Revenge. The idea for this event is the Superintendent and his lovable staff gets to set the course for the day… with no rules attached!!

The following are the rules for this special day.

1. There are no rules for course set-up. This means anything goes?!
2. The course will be set-up the entire day in “Twilight Zone” mode.  Everyone plays the Superintendents Revenge… even non-believers.
3. Play at your own risk, the Club will not be responsible for member out-bursts of anger or laugher pertaining to course set-up.
4. Players of this event are not permitted to use the Superintendents name nor any of the turf staffs names in vain.
5. Winners of this event will truly be… the Club Champions!!
6. Have a great time, have fun!!

Here’s a lovely addition to the holiday bread basket, or a nice side to accompany your favourite bowl of chili now that the weather calls for satisfying, hearty dishes.

Heat oven 400ºF degrees. Oil 12 small muffin cups/pan.

• 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1/4 cup butter or bacon fat, melted & cooled
• 1 1/2 cups sour cream or buttermilk (preferred)
• 2 teaspoon baking powder
• 3 teaspoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 eggs, beaten

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl at once and divide equally in your muffin pans filling them about 2/3 full. Bake for aprox. 12 -16 minutes depending on oven. Adjust cooking time and not oven temperature. Enjoy while warm or once cooled freeze for an upcoming dinner party.

Sorry for the bumpy conditions. We thank you for your patience and understanding.

Note: Due to colder temperatures coming (frost), we will be taking in the ballwashers and fountains for the season.

The course has been showing some great fall colour in the last few weeks. Now all that colour is hitting the ground. We ask for everyone’s patience as the cleanup starts. Things to remember about this time of year…

- Be patient… leaves will be falling for the next few weeks. They fall 24 hours a day!!

- This is a good time to practice… keeping the ball straight, (easier said than done!). The leaves are blown from the fairways into the rough. The best chance in finding your ball is on the fairway.

- Bring out your old “shag balls”… you may lose a few.

- Play with those who believe in the lost ball rule!!

- The course is blown off through-out the morning. Due to noise & staffing restrictions, you will not see much of us in the afternoon. If the wind picks up and leaves continue to fall… you may find yourself with some interesting putts!!
